Existing capacity subscriptions

Terms for existing room, space and device capacity subscriptions.

This page describes the separate room, space and device capacity offer. For the new live offer, see Pricing. Existing subscriptions retain their accepted terms.

Realtime connectivity with predictable limits. Presence, discovery, signaling, joins and reconnects are included. Commercial use is permitted on every plan.

Monthly plans

Each paid subscription includes one app. Additional apps are charged separately and receive the full per-app allowances of the account's tier. One tier applies across the account. There are no annual subscriptions.

Room and space device allowances describe membership capacity, not an all-to-all peer connection guarantee. Direct peer messages, connection time and payload bytes do not incur separate OpenRTC usage charges.

Flat overages

Free has no overages: upgrade for more capacity. Paid overages are off by default and require explicit opt-in and a monthly spending ceiling.

Device above a particular space limit$1.125$0.9$0.75

Rates stay flat at every excess volume; there are no escalating bands. Fractional-cent amounts accumulate before rounding the invoice total to cents. Extra rooms and spaces include the tier's standard device allowance. Additional apps cannot exceed the account's app ceiling; upgrade or contact Enterprise. Extra apps renew at their full monthly price. Your overage ceiling must cover those recurring app fees. Remove extra apps before disabling overages or lowering the ceiling below that amount; charges already incurred remain due. If your available app slots decrease, the oldest active apps retain admission. Other apps retain their data and can be removed, but require available app capacity before starting new runtime operations.

An app with 20 monthly active users and two spaces costs $23 on Builder; Pro includes that capacity for $19. An app with 80 monthly active users and four spaces and 16 rooms costs $88.30 on Pro; Scale includes that capacity for $79. These examples assume devices remain within each tier’s allowances. Choose a tier for your combined capacity needs; an upgrade is not always cheaper for a single overage dimension.

Counting capacity

  • Users: unique users using OpenRTC during the billing period, once per app. Anonymous participants count using stable identities too.
  • Rooms and spaces: peak simultaneously existing resources within each app.
  • Room and space devices: peak simultaneous distinct devices in each resource.
  • User devices: peak registered devices per user, including retained offline devices until removed.
  • Reconnects and replacement runtime instances retain the durable device identity and do not count as additional devices.

Unused allowance in one app, room, space or user does not offset another's excess.

Billing and protection

Subscriptions are billed monthly in advance; overages are billed in arrears on one account bill. Added apps and upgrades are prorated for the remaining period. Downgrades and app removal from billing take effect at renewal.

Without enabled overages, or when the spending ceiling is reached, new activity that would exceed capacity is denied. Existing sessions, resources and access to data are preserved.

Purchased subscription prices, limits and overage rates remain protected through the current paid term. Adverse changes apply only at a subsequent renewal after applicable advance notice and required consent. Included usage is never retroactively reclassified as overage. Allowance increases may apply immediately at no additional charge.

Relay availability

Managed TURN and MoQ relay support are disabled by default. This release does not sell relay allowances or authorize relay overages. Relay limits, allocations and pricing will be announced separately. Direct peer traffic is included.
